    Master DNS domain usage

Using Microsoft DNS, have done the initial DNS settings as explained in MSDNS documentation PDF file downloaded from www2.dotnetpanel.com and used 'domain.com' as the master dns Forward Lookup Zone

Then I used the same domain.com to create hosting space for reseller. Then I have deleted the hosting space because I got 'SMTP Host not found error' This action deleted my Master Forward Lookup Zone as the zones name is same 'domain.com' . Due to this action my Forward Lookup Zone list is empty with 'Add a new Zone' screen.

I am sure this will create Havoc as the Master zone gets deleted. Do we have to waste the Master Domain used for DNS settings? Is there no way to create hosting space for the same domain in DNP?

One more doubt I have is I have no DNS entries in 'Reverse Lookup Zones' the list is empty. But I do have 2 domains hosted on the server and email and everything works.

My server specs are Windows 2003 Enterprise, Smartermail 3.X, Smarter Stats, MSDNS, MSFTP

I appreciate the help as always.

Yes, when deleting a hosting space all related resources are deleting too and DNP does not make any difference whether it is master zone or not. This is by design and seems to be normal. You're welcome to suggest how it can be improved.

Normally, you don't need reverse zones.

yes, normally you dont use PTR records, responsible persons etc... however it would be a great benefit if we had the ability to add these records.  MS DNS has the records for a reason, and i for one use them.

i would also find it a lot easier to add records if they added the same way MS DNS opperates.  these are of course just suggestions, but i would love to see something like this.
