    Sharepoint Users' Email Address

    Hey

    Am I just missing something?

There's no facility in DNP to add / change a sharepoint user's email address. Sharepoint itself also doesn't allow changing of a user's email address. The only way of apecifying an email address for a user is by using Remote Desktop and editing the user's details directly.

That's OK for the likes of me, as I have root access to the server, but how are my resellers / users meant to do it? What about those people that use DNP in a shared hosting environment?

Can we add a feature to allow email editing in DNP please?

    Thanks,

    Paul.

    Soz

I just discovered where Sharepoint hides all the user information and where to change it... Email IS configurable via Sharepoint.

Could you please share how to do it?

    Sure.

I know it didn't do it the first two or three times because I remember checking and thinking it was nuts that I couldn't change a user's details, but it's as simple as going to people and groups, selecting the user and choosing edit...

I don't know if something changed, but I remember looking at this a number of times and not getting anywhere. It was only after seeing  my username at the top right of the page and clicking the dropdown to edit 'My Settings', that suddenly I was able to see email details to change them. Maybe there's something wrong with Sharepoint, maybe just there's something wrong with me. Don't know which one.

Would be interested to find out which. If anyone comes accros the issue that they can't see a user's email to edit it, try clicking on your username on the top right of the page and editing your own details from there. Then go back to the other users and see if you can now edit their emails. From what I remember this seemed tobe the scenario, but then maybe I am the one that's nuts, not Sharepoint. Please post your results here, so I know whether or not to check myself in to a clinic!

    Paul.

In Site Settings under click "View Information About Site Users" in the Manage My Information Section. Click on the user in question, enter your admin credentials and there you have it. I noticed, however, that not all users are visible in this list. Wonder why...

    1)  Go to site settings

    2)  Go to site administration

    3) Go to View site collection user information

    4)  Click on user or group

    5)  On this page, sharepoint gives you the option to "edit user information" of the user/group including the email address.
