Ability to set a file to read only and a less confusing permissions window.

I came across this when installing an oscommerce site the other day.

Oscommerce warns you that the config.php file is writable. So I went into the file manager of DNP and though okay turn off write permissions. But when i looked at the permissions window nothing was ticked (confusingly), I would have assumed read would be ticked but thought maybe it just sets the permissions doesn't read the current permissions so I ticked read permissions assuming it would turn off write permissions because they weren't ticked.

Still oscommerce says my config.php file is writable. So a little googling and I'm told I need to open up the properties of the file in windows explorer and tick the read only there. great now the error is gone.

However it would be most handy if this could be done from within DNP so that my customers don't bug me about it, unfortunately oscommerce is a popular application so even if its warning is I assume false one it would be nice to give the customer a way off fixing it.. And also making the permissions window a bit more user friendly.

I've requested this to, some PHP scripts set files to read only, e.g. Joomla/Mambo

Just a idea but could you add support to the application installer to be able to set files a Read Only,

Apps like Drupal require the config file to be Read Only and it would be good if the installer was able to do this automatically

Yes, we could add another processing instruction in install.xml.

    Hi,

I was trying to find this Read-Only checkbox in File Manager but haven't found. I presume it's not released yet, is it?

My system Windows Server 2003 SE SP2, DNP v2.8.2.

    Thanks.

    Regards,
    Jegor.
