When a new domain is created, can a secondary zone be created on a Linux server automatically?

When a new domain is created, can a secondary zone be created on a Linux server automatically?

I think the subject says it all, but in case it's not clear, I have a Windows 2003-based DNS server, and the DNS zones/domains are being created perfectly by DNP.  I have a Linux server (running BIND) which hosts secondary/slave zones for all of the DNS zones on the Windows DNS server, and this works fine. However, I have to create the secondary zone file on the Linux server manually.  Is there a way for DNP (and if not with DNP, is there another way) to have all of the primary zones on my Windows DNS server be automatically created on the Linux server?

I'm just trying to cut down on the steps required to get a new domain up and running...

I would say no (but I may be wrong).  DNP is a .NET based Windows driven application, and thus does not run (afaik) on Linux.  If you had another Windows server you would be able to purchase another server license to install on that server, then you could set it up in DNP to create all your secondary zones for you.

also, maybe edit your tags in this forum thread to something similar to mine... it will be easier to search.

Thanks for the reply (and I've separated my tags with commas - thanks for that tip!).

Actually you can. I used to use a Bind 9 server on FreeBSD as a secondary and I wrote a script that would extract the MS DNS zones and then I would copy them to the Bind DNS server on a scheduled task. It wasn't pretty but it worked. I'll see if I can dig it up if you are interested..

I am very interested in such a script!

    Thanks...

Sorry for the delay. I am sorry but I cannot seem to find it right now. I think the only copy I had was on a server I leased from SL that I no longer have. If anything changes I'll post it up.

I am again looking into a way to replicate zone files from DNP on a DNS server on a Linux server. With the inclusion of BIND for windows support in DNP is there a simple way to integrate bind on Linux to allow for automatic zone creation on both machines (This may already be possible I've not checked.)

Is there a DNP / Bind setup tutorial somewhere?

Isn't there any solution for windows based secondary dns server. The script check all forward zones on primary server and if one found missing on secondary then create it with automaticaly.
