    Initial install prob

    Okay Ive got a fresh copy of Windows 2003 enterprise R2 or whatever you call it installed.  I installed MSSQL Server EXpress 2005, Management studio, IIS 6, enabled ASP 2

    The DNP Installer installed everything fine, but when i goto http://localhost/Portal, it gives me this error:

    Error Installing DotNetNuke

    Current Assembly Version: 04.03.01

    ERROR: Could not connect to database specified in connectionString for SqlDataProvider

    Now I tried installing just DNN 4.3 before on another server, and got this error, and fixed it somehow, but I cant remember what i did :/.  DNP installer should have set the db connection strings, and set up the databases for me.  It did b/c i checked in management studio and they are both there.  Any suggestions? I made sure NT Authority/Network SErvice accnt had all privilages

    THanks!

    If it isn't broke, dont fix it

    Re: Initial install prob

    I have exact same config, hardware and same problem.

    DotNetPanel/Portal is running on same instance

    tryed copying   this configuration .. with my data

      <connectionStrings>
        <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express -->
        <add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="server=(local)\SQLExpress;database=XXXXX;uid=XXXXXX;pwd=XXXXXX;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
      </connectionStrings>
      <appSettings>
        <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules   -->
        <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="server=(local)\SQLExpress;database=XXXXXX;uid=XXXXX;pwd=XXXXXX;" />

    But this gives no better results...

    how come portal can run, when installed  DNN 4.3.1  cannot ?

    Forgot to inform..

    Portal runs fine...

    its the installations of a DotNetNuke application that gives the following problem

    1.  in IIS  always makes an extra backslash in HomeDir  "\\"   in stead of  "\"  so I manually have to change this in IIS

    2. connection string does not work,   even in mixed mode..

    Could you please clarify where do you get double backslash?

    Do you have a trailing slash in the path on WEB service properties page?

    If yes, then please remove it for now. It should be considered as a bug and it will be fixed in the next 1.5.2.
