I am editing this post as Feodor has made more improved updates.

I was using 1.0.3 and now I am upgrading to 1.5.1 using the following method that has worked for me and hopefully works for all.

(First) I made a backup of my entire server using Norton Ghost 2003.

(Second) I downloaded and installed the 1.7 installer

(Third) I used the new installer to upgrade to 1.5 version

(Fourth) I used the new installer again to upgrade to 1.5.1 version

(Fifth) I rebooted my server just for good measure. This may not be necessary

(Sixth) I got to my Portal URL. Shows its upgrading DotNetNuke

currently assembly version 04.03.01

current database version 04.00.02

Upgrade complete

I click the link and get redirected to the login portal webpage

(Seventh) I log into my accounts to make sure everything is working and so far everything is. Great job Feodor. I will be continue further testing and configuration.

(Eigth) I logged in as serveradmin to configure my web services. Configuration -> Servers -> Web.

I was able to fill in most of these new values thanks to Rubal. The ones I was unable to input values for was PHP 4 / PHP 5 / Python / IIS Password.

I am currenlty using PHP 5 so I need to figure out how to install both php4 and php5 and iispassword and python.

Shared SSL Sites and Active Directory Integration I do not think I am using at this time so I can leave them blank.

Could you please summarize from your post above what exact errors are you getting and in what places? It would help us to fix the situation more quickly.

The URL posted just addresses "my critical error" problem.

How about the rest of my dozen or so questions that I need answered?

Not all but I have answer for few...Assuming you have installed Windows on C:\Windows

ASP Library Path: ? C:\Windows\system32\inetsrv\ASP.DLL

ASP.NET 1.1 Library Path: ? C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\aspnet_isapi.dll

ASP.NET 2.0 Library Path: ? C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_isapi.dll

ASP.NET 1.1 Application Pool: DefaultAppPool - Thats fine.

ASP.NET 2.0 Application Pool: ASP.NET V2.0 - Make sure this App Pool is created there on IIS.

PHP 4.x Executable Path: ? - Then install it. If you install PHP CGI the path is typically C:\php\php.exe

PHP 5.x Executable Path: ? Cool. Point this field to its executable path.

Perl Executable Path: ? (I am using Active Perl) -

C:\perl\bin\perl.exe "%s" %s

Python Executable Path: ? - C:\Python24\python.exe -u "%s" "%s"

IISPassword Filter Path: ? Install it using all default/global settings. Path would be

C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\IISPasswordFilter.dll

What if you use php5isapi.dll isntead of php.exe?

I dont see any reason why it wont work. We just need to make sure PHP is configured fine and we are using the correct Extention Mappings.
