    Need Advice About SPAM

Ok so I need a little advice here, maybe some of you big guys can help me out.

I have had a couple of times where one of my clients gets a virus and their computer sends out MASS amounts of spam.  I have all of the security in place, but I seem to have a problem when it comes to Authentic Users that have acquired a virus.  Do you know of a) any way to prevent this or b) how do you deal with those clients?

    Thanks in advance.

We use a gateway system, it monitors all inbound and outbound emails for spam and viruses,  its up to you to do what you want with them, delete, return to sender, send, etc..

You can add this system to any mail server, Contact us if you would like a quote on adding a mail gateway on your network.

Actually I am looking more for advice on how to deal with the violating customer.  Do I cancel his account until he resolves the problem?  do i limit his access?  do i cancel his contract (probably not the best idea)?

    Re: Need Advice About SPAM

Depending on your mail software (mailenable for instance) you can limit the amount of emails that customers can email to.  I limit customers to about 100 messages (or 100 email addresses) an hour.  This stops them from sending out mailing lists through their email account.  We offer a 'mailing list' program if they want to send out more than 100

Also the mail software might have a filter on it allowing any 'attachments' to be checked for virus.

I haven't had this happen myself, if it does:

I politely tell the customer that this is happening.
Tell them to install an Anti-virus program immediately
Immediately shut off their email as the customer doesn't want to get 'blacklisted' by other service providers.

In the long run you are helping your clients by making sure something worse doesn't happen like their domain name getting 'blacklisted'
