hmm, domain add problem... dns server bind (recent)

Hmm according to the bind settings I have:
            D:\BIND\zones\etc (zone file location)
            D:\BIND\zones\bin\reload.bat (as the reload)

OS Windows Server 2008 Web Edition

        Running:
                     ICS Bind 9.5.0
                     MailEnable Professional 3
                     MySQL 5
                     PHP 5

When adding a new domain I get this error: (domain in example is "thedomainwithaproblem.com" for privacy)

System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request. ---> System.Exception: Error executing 'ADD' task on 'thedomainwithaproblem.com' DOMAIN ---> System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request. ---> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The directory name is invalid

Open DNS service properties in DNP and make sure the path is correct and saved.

Also, try running D:\BIND\zones\bin\reload.bat from command line.

Thanks feodore, I actually was able to fix it by deleting it from server's services; then re-adding and verifying all the paths; tbh I think I had a .txt somewhere it should'nt of been.

It appears working now. Thanks for the excellent product~!

Hey, I see you've managed to run BIND on Windows 2008! Wink

Are there any tricks on W2K8? I know many customers would be interested to know your experience because no MS DNS on W2K8 Web edition (but this edition is free).

Re: hmm, domain add problem... dns server bind (recent)

This was actually a first attempt at hosting BIND from a Windows Server 2008 ... And so far its great; I checked all the little security items I was concerned with ;and all seems okay so far..   I'll post my process to get it working great on 2008...   I didn'nt really do anything too special, I did already know most of the RFC stuff on DNS; but I'll post what I can when I have a little time free. I think that'd be a good thing for support and other customer setups.
