DNP not adding DNS zone/entry for domain/web site

     Hi,

    Issue

DNP 2.6.0 seems to be unable to add domains/zone entries to MS DNS when a domain name is added, or when the DNS Zone Records are added from DNP. There are no error messages, and no error logs in event viewer.

I have managed to get the control panel working on my master zone - and tried manually creating entries in DNS to get URL's working (by pointing external domain name to NS2). I would really like to have this automated, and I have spent significant time trying to troubleshoot this, and reading thru posts in the forum. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What are the minimum requirements for DNP to be able to create DNS entries and zones in MS DNS? What are the credentials required for the app pool for this to happen? What am I doing wrong here?

    Background

I've read the articles on setting up MS DNS with DNP:

    http://help.dotnetpanel.com/Third-Party%20Products/MS%20DNS%20Service%20Installation%20and%20Configuration.aspx

    and

    http://help.dotnetpanel.com/Administrator%20Guide/Setting%20up%20Server%20Services/MS%20DNS%20Provider%20Settings.aspx

And followed steps on these pages loosely.

    Our setup is of follows:

    * Machine has the following checked (different to what is documented in above links) : BIND secondaries, Enable round robin, Enable netmask ordering, Secure cache again pollution.

    * Multibyte (UTF8), Load zone data on startup from AD and registry

    * Interfaces - allowing all ip addresses

    * 2 X secondary Zones (1 with a NS2 entry that points to the ip of the hosting server, setup for DNP to add/modify entries)

    * 1 X primary Zone - for control panel.

     * Have setup DNP as described in the link above.

    Configuration

    DNP 2.6.0

    Windows 2003 Server

    MS DNS

    IIS 6.0

    .NET 1.0/2.0/3.0

    No AD

    Thanks in Advance,

    Doug

Re: DNP and MS DNS: How does it work? What are the minimal requirements?

    Hi,

I tried to manipulate the DNP Server Web Service directly:
    http://127.0.0.1:9003/DNSServer.asmx?op=ZoneExists

I tried to invoke it with a zone that already exists in DNS and the registry, but it gives a 500 Internal Error.

So I tried to turn on error tracing, but it's still giving a 500 Internal Error. Could this be a new bug?

    Thanks,

    Doug
