Cant find Files in CGI-Bin Created with DPN

For some reason and I have No Idea why,  I am about to pull my Hair out here!!  but after creating a hosting space with CGI-BIN enabled and putting a couple test Perl and CGI scripts in it I cant seem to get any of them to work. I keep getting a 404 File or Directory not found.

I have checked my exstentions and permissions all seem to be set but yet still not working on the the DPN created site

I also checked the IIS settings in my DPN portal Panel and all seem to be there as well

    I have these installed

    PHP 5

    activestate Perl 5.8

    Python

    Fast CGI

But yet on my site I do not have in DPN they work fine.

Any Ideas to why they are not working

Re: Cant find Files in CGI-Bin Created with DPN

Well Now I see why there is a Paid solution for most Problems in DPN,  No one seems to really pay Much attention in these Forums!

THis Post has been here for almost 15hrs and no response.

Never Mind I'll sort this My self as I seem to do alot! or email Support!

And Here is a Tip for those Using Active Directory as I am on several servers,

DPN does not install Properly from YOur Administatrative Login YOU have to be Loged into the activedirectory Domain Login , for AD to work Properly  just installing things from Add and remove does NOT do the trick. Seems how NO one has ever said that in all these forums I have read! Which I read them all!!

Other Problems from this will result in Your FTP accounts not working MySqL not working and SMPT problems. if not installed thru  Your AD Domain.

But this does not fix my Problem!

Have you even bothered to read this and this? Then you would have known: A. How to correctly report an issue, B. That you are currently out of business hours and C. that highest priority is given to support tickets.

    or email Support!

Why haven't you done that yet? Oh, and I would recommend to keep the same bold tone in your email, it will get you helped much quicker! Hmm

I am a Flamboyant Typer and always will be I come from Several Major Chat communitys doing every thing from tech support to teaching people do's and donts of the internet,  ecommerce,  Computer Repair I have Been with the MSN Network alone for 8 yrs as a Support ADMIN ! So Bold I am Sorry!   But it Gets attention!

In My Opinion most here have it backwards To many look to the developers for Answers all the time when the whole purpose behind a Forum is to get the Public involved! To take the work off the Developers! So they can spend more time Doing what they do Best! Developing!

     1. I have read about every Post you have Made YOU do More telling People to Run to the Developers and put In Support Tickets then Anything! In My Book Once again slows down The Developers!

Just telling the facts, nothing more, nothing less. I know this is not what you want to hear, but that's your choice.

    2. I have seen Vary Little Help on YOUR Behalf YOU spend Most your Time Telling People How bad they Post stuff or Criticizing This and That! Instead of Actually HELPING People! No Different then you did with me and a few Others I read up On!  YOU have not helped one Bit it took Me doing better then 36 HRS of research and being in Email Contact with Feodor the WHole time. And this was way  BEFORE you Made your Criticizing Comment on my Post!

You say the forum is for sharing between customers. I have seen very little sharing from your side. At least I have helped people in the past, which we can't say about you. The only thing you have done here is putting in a bad attitude. Seriously, how do you want people to help and solve your issues, if you even can't write a decent sentence and instantly start screaming that no one wants to help you.

    3. No different then YOU did with My WIFE (AMANDA) when she Made her First Post here on Installing the Panel in the Software! You didn’t offer Help YOU ask her to Post what Fixed it!  Well Guess what,  It was Me That Fixed it!

I should have known... your writing "skills" match. But if you guys don't share with us, why would we want to share with you?

    4. From what I have seen you haven’t been Any help so Please Don’t Bother!!!!!!! And Save your Criticizing Comments for someone Else! Its Easy Help or Dont Post!

Well, you probably read my last 5 posts here then. Time which I could have spent much more usefull if it weren't for posts like the ones you have made. This forum is for customers sharing their knowledge and helping each other out. It's not about demanding free help and screaming about it if no one is instantly reading your "sentences".

    5. I will Post the Fix I Have Found in full Detail for those who want it! And By the way anyone in these Forums that wants help.  If I can I will But I will Not push People to support tickets Unless it is the Most Last Resort! And I don’t Charge People to Remote there Machines!

I have pushed no one to support tickets. I have just explained what other means of support are available when no one is answering the post (or knows the solution). But sure, we are all eager to find out what you have to tell, but this time please try to make some sense.

Re: Cant find Files in CGI-Bin Created with DPN

Hehehe Out side of this Being about the Most activity I think in this Forum at this time.

I'll stand by My Last reply,  and as far as the Help I have done lol , I am a Brand New Customer only a few days Old and only had 1 question before now! about License stuff. But even with the 1 Problem I Had I still Left a Post on Active Directory and I have only Been in this Forum for How many Days?  5 I think LOL

Tip ! My Wife and I are from Totally Different Places on this Earth Shes a Brit from the UK I am a REDNECK from the southern Part of the USA Home of NASA  Huntsville Alabama! And Yes I have done work for NASA not as a Rocket Scientist But as a Systems Engineer (Basicly Building Computer Systems designed for there needs) So how we're alike I have NO Idea LOL  I find that Funny hehehe. She's my Firey Brit and I am her Take no Prisoner Redneck! Match Made in Heaven hehehehe.

But what is striking about all this.  This is the most activity I have seen on this Forum. So Hats off to You for Keeping it Going!

And YOU miss read My Meaning in my second Comment after asking for Help !! I wasn't crying for Help Hehehehe I was postiong a FACT of the help here! as compared to Support Tickets!

Honestly this forum should be the first place to look for help BUT if I don't find it here I don't run for a support ticket I run to Google and other outlets! I have seen Sites with Rubal and Loads of other customers in other Forums Talking there instead of here. if no answers then yes I will go to support. I been watching DPN for about 8 to 9 Months.

99% of all I know in my Field I have learned myself with NO College Degree or any thing simply put they wern't even teaching this stuff when I started! in schools.

I am 47 Years Old and Been in the Computer field for now on a total of 16yrs and I do just about every thing Except Development of soft ware I can do some C# and C++ and Delphi and Visual Basics But I only do it making Toys! That I will Not go into!  It's Like some old wise man said Long time ago YOu have to learn to fix things before you can Break them lol

And NO I read all Your Post! One I have to say I loved Reading was the Guy with 2 words for YOU H C ! Now he's a Spunky Funny Chap and love the way he puts things was good reading hehehe BUT HC7 is Not all that.  It will do Loads of rewriting system files when it installs. But Hay too some it works I guess.

I think Our Problem here is Not a Typing Issues its a Generation GAP! YOu See things One way and I see it a Different way! Plane and Simple! And I am Use to talking to ALL types Not just a single Group. In fact LOL if you just Google My Nick Name MrGates YOu will find I have been all over the net for Years using the vary same Sign in  even today I find Post I have made over 10 years ago. I think the Biggest Place you will find things on me if your interested are from Yahoo Chat! Where most call me a "God" there hehehe,  Again for reasons I wont get into!

But hay its Been Fun and I want to get together this fix for those who want it.   I will say it has to do with Newer Releases of Zend on how it rewrites the PHP ini file But I want all my Facts straight first before I post it... Biggest Problem I have found with Control Panels Most of them are Not up to speed with Newer software releases even Feodor will tell you biggest problem they have is 3rd party software installs.  My servers are running latest releases on every thing PHP , Perl, MySql a Huge Plus+ for DPN is the fact it works well with MSSQL2005 and MySQL 5.1 unlike Most that still use MSSQL2000. and PHP5 where others are only using PHP4. Thus this is the reseaon I have stayed away from Control Panels till I saw where DPN was going . I like there look and feel of the software ( Simplicity ) easy to Navagate for People (end users). Unlike Loads out there.

    Ingvald

Keep one thing in Mind I mean No harm!  Convos like this are a Good thing shows People actually do care!

And I have to say YOu just caught me at one of my Moments with your first reply.. And I find my self carrying on,  But I do want to stress a tip here about something. Some thing for people to read! I have about 20 Friends already that have came over here just to read my Post in this forum. from Cnet.com and a few other places.

RDC ! (Remote DeskTop Connection) Its been one of the great things to come about. But to be Honest is not one of the best things to let people do!  In My Opinion VNC is a Much better way to where you can actually see and control every thing the other person is doing to your hardware! Yes sure you get the same effect using MSN Messenger Remote BUT even there , there are ways Of working around it and doing things that People have no Idea what your doing to there system or (servers in our case).. Just some thing I had on the Brain...

Re: Cant find Files in CGI-Bin Created with DPN

OK Finally after going over my Whole set up several times I found the Problems on My Secondary Domain Controller that is also a IIS6 HOst

To Start with To Make PHP5 work with Zend Optimizer3.x  I Had to Uninstall Zend First to get my Origanal PHP5.ini file Back and Make sure the Mapping was Correct in the DPN Panel. Then Reinstall Zend all works fine. Why I had to do this I have No Idea but hay it worked!

The Perl and CGI Problem was a Active Directory Problem.

And I would still Recommend installing DPN from your AD Domain,  it still Makes things easyer. "NOT" your Administrative account!

Even after installing DPN logged into  AD Domain  it still does "Not" put the DPNserver account in to the Admins Domain Group in your AD Domain.  YOu have to move it Manually.  This is a Must for Running Perl and CGI scripts! or the script will not Authicate to IIS and cause a 404 error. Once it was added all works Great!

And I use 2 Installs of Perl Both Activestate Perl 5.8.8 and Strawberry Perl 5.10.10.2 with SSleay, Crypt, DBD::mysql DBD::ODBC Modules. from Cspan
