    Gonna give 2.8 a try

I'm installing DNP 2.8 on a fresh Win2k3 R2 server with ASP.net 1.1, 2.0 and 3.5, MySQL 5 and PHP5. This is a fully patch, brand new, Dell Quad Core Xeon server.

I'm truly praying this will work this time. Anyone have any advice, hint, tips or tricks? I'd truly appreciate anyones advice!!. I'd really like to see this work this time around. I have plenty of confidence in the DNP team I truly do, I've just been a little disappointed in the past.

I'm wondering if anyone is modifying the DNP Portal sources to rebrand the portal, add pages, etc? I have VS 2008 now and would like to modify the portal to reflect our brand.

    Thanks in advance...

Since DNP 2.8 is out I have setup 6-7 servers for client on both Windows 2003 and Windows 2008 including x64 bit setups and truely speaking DNP works great. There are few minor bugs but they really are not a show stopper and workaround available to get past them.

Re: Gonna give 2.8 a try

I ran the installed on my test env several times, DNP has worked with out issue each and everything time. (64bit) I have Perl, PHP5, MySQL 4 & 5 MSSQL, SmarterStats, SmarterMail, ASP 1-3 and everything else you asked about. Only thing I ran into a problem with is AWStats, and not even AWStats it works great just can't get the viewer to work and I know its something I'm doing wrong. I tested HC7 and everytime I tested it, I ran into problems. Granted HC7 support was very good and for free jumped on my server and fixed any problems. The big problem is I wanted an appication that I could get to work each and everytime (unlike helm4) myself, which DNP has been.

Oh SmarterMail 4 and up automaticly runs in 64bit and if you run your IIS7 in 32bit you have to run a little command to force Smartermail in 32bit.

If you need a have a pretty good setup document I been working on I would be more than happy to share it. Setup of IIS7 and all the supporting apps I talked about.

ok I got the server up and running, just noticing a few things. Like deleting spaces for accounts created under resellers, I'm also generating quite a few error within event logs, trying to figure them out now.

We also have to have a better way to modify the portals. Creating pages and changing existing ones is a nightmare. Also how does the reseller modify their portal? and the user?

Ok that's not possible? Why did I create a plan lastnight for an ecommerce hosted plan for a reseller account and today it's GONE!

How are resellers suppose to create plans?

I'm just wondering if I have this right. A reseller can't create plans unless he/she is a peer? And the gives them assess to seeing/stopping the running services and even rebooting the machine?

Please tell me I'm missing something here...

ok that was stupid of me. So after hunting down the answer, "We have to install a DNP Portal for the reseller." My question is once we do this does that give the reseller access processes, remote connections or restarting the server? Tell me that's not the case please. I know that can't be right.

Re: Gonna give 2.8 a try

    Hi there,

Reseller is a separate account (not peer) with the specific set of priviledges and permission in the system. As far as I understand you're going to setup an additional branded DNP Web Portal for every reseller, right?

If that's the case then let me know and I'll share with you knowledge on what it takes to deal with that task on the background.

    Thanks.

Actually we'd just like to rebrand it for ourselves now. Trying to figure this out doesn't look that hard, any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
