    Backup does not work

    Hello,

I'm trying to schedule a task to backup all setups & files of DNP, i choose Backup on "task Type" put the parameters but when i run this task it only takes 2 seconds and does not backup anything. I have about 4 gb in files & databases.

I want to backup everything for all spaces & users of DNP, DNS setting, files, databases (if it's possible) etc. I only see the backup / restore option for an especific space, not all of them.

I'm NOT trying to backup anything about the OS, just DNP.

Another thing, can i do a bat file for this (create the backup file to be able to restore under DNP)?

    I'm using DNP 2.8.2

    Thank you for your help.

Have you checked the Audit Log for errors? Either way, the DotNetPanel backup is useless with that much data.

yes i did, and does not shows any error, only this:

     00:00:00 BACKUP_BACKUP

    00:00:00  Calculate items to backup

And that's it. Is there any documentation about how to setup this backup feuture (even if DNP takes a long time to do it)?

I went to "Configuration" => "Servers" I did select my server and choose the backup option (putting aside the slow process..) does this backup everything???

Can i do a bat file to automatize this process?

    Re: Backup does not work

Ohh boy... I used the backup server tool (i have 3.97GB of data & databases) and for some reason it took more than 74 gb (I though a disk of 80 gb would be enough to backup 4 gb of data... but NOOO). I don't know why this tool takes that much space, can the developers of DNP explain this.

And also, explain what does this backup save (DNS info, domain info, websites, data, databases).

     Thanks.

     I warned you Wink

The backup/restore tool isn't useful in case of server failures or server migrations. It's pretty much being able to go back in time to a previous state (if everything is working correctly), but even then it's much better to take external backups instead of using the DNP backup...

I have the same message in the log for a scheduled backup task

     "Calculate items to backup"

    After that, nothing.

    Manual backup does work.

    Hello everyone!

Sorry for not responding in time - high workload.

Are you trying to setup scheduled space backup task on the System space level? If yes, then I must disappoint you - this functionality has been removed long time ago.

Now, you're able to setup scheduled backup only on a user's hosting space-level...

    Thanks.

    Hi Paul,

Is it possible for this feature to be added again? The manual backup of the System space is working perfectly, I don't understand why it cannot be scheduled.

    Thank you anyway!

    No, unfortunately.

However, we recommend customers to setup scheduled backup task on a user hosting space's level - it provides unlimited flexibility to customize backup frequency per hosting space and as a result delivers better service reliability.

    Thanks.
