Migrating from Helm 4 to DNP and import is failing for Gene6 and IIS services.

I'm working on a migration from Helm 4 to DNP and I need a bit of insight. I have a control server and 4 remotes, each with the individual services on their own server.  The DNP configuration is running on alongside Helm 4 on the respective services.

I have sucessfully imported SimpleDNS, AWStats, SmarterMail, SQL 2005, and MySQL.  I cannot get it to import IIS 6, or Gene6 FTP.  Gene6 is setup in classic mode with one domain and all of the logins under it.

I go to my hosting space, choose my unlimited plan I have created, select a space resource to import, click on Import Resource, click on the OK button to import the resource, I get the Import Items window that says "Task has been finished" and it took 1 second, and I click on the Close button to close the Import Items status popup.

Everything looks like it should have processed properly, but when I go back to my hosting space, it did not import anything. This is only happening for IIS and Gene6.  All other services imported without a problem.

There is no error reported during the process and no errors or warnings in the event logs on the server. The audit log shows the process ran and does not give any indication of an error.

Is there a more detailed log for the import process anywhere else that might show me what is failing?  Or does anyone have any insight into what else to check?

    Thanks!

Ok, I have made some progress.  I had the Windows 2003 OS component from the control server in the virtual server. So I removed it and added the OS component for the web and ftp server to the virtual server. I also did not have the listening ip setting selected in the SimpleDNS service properties.  With these two changes, I can now import an FTP site.

However, I found another thread in the forum from Feodor that said to delete and recreate the hosting space after adding the OS component to try and resolve this problem. I now have my hosting space that I originally created that I need to delete and recreate.  The problem is that it contains all of the items that were imported successfully (besides iis and ftp).

Is there a way to remove and recreate a hosting space without deleting all of the underlying files and configuration from the server. I don't want it to delete all of my mail, mssql, mysql, dns, etc. information from the server itself.

I did create a test user with a test hosting space with some test services in it.  Then I deleted the test space leaving the test user in place.  The process of deleting the test hosting space definitely does delete the underlying files and service items from the server as I would have expected it to.

Before deleting the hosting space, you can "Detach" the resources which will just remove the resources from DNP metabase but will leave them physcially intact. After you recreate hosting space, you can again "Import" these resources.

Worked like a champ.  Thanks for the input!
