    Roadmap

I've browsed throug the forum looking for any roadmaps, if so even preliminary ones. Couldn't find much more than a bunch of people also asking for this.

Could the DNP Team please present some kind of roadmap for us as customers, for the "ordinary" DNP Development?

There is one small roadmap regarding the enterprise module at the page bottom in:
    http://www.dotnetpanel.com/enterprise-solution/

There is also a small one regarding the Hyper-V module at the page bottom in:
    http://www.dotnetpanel.com/vps/

However, finding anything about DNP v3.0 or v2.9 or even v2.8.9 seems to be top secret? :-(

I've been a customer at DNP now for more than a year and still don't have any working ecommerce module (and I simply don't want to use WHMCS or any other 3rd party software). DNP is a very great product overall but the lack of ecommerce is right now stopping me from buying more licenses for my other servers.

Even if the roadmap mostly consists of bug-fixing and small improvements, it would be nice to know for us as customers when we can expect something to happen or be fixed - then we could plan parts of our businesses as well. If the roadmap wouldn't show any ecommerce development for a year, or even stating that it would be put on hold completely, then one could do anything about it such as forcing one self to buy whmcs/whatever. Right now I've been waiting since I've evaluated the software for the ecommerce to be usable....

DNP Customers - Is roadmaps interesting

What is your opinion about roadmaps; would it be of no interest, some interest or of big interest to know from the DNP Team for your business work? Place your vote, and maybe DNP Team can use the common opinion to decide if they should make any attention to the requests for roadmaps, or not...

    Re: Roadmap

I have been using DNP for almost 4 years now, and this has been requested a number of times. Unfortunately, there is never any real feedback from the DNP team.

Although there are regular bugfix updates, it has been some time since any real updates were made or any specific plans for future features were presented. There have been some proposals in the past to setup a system where customers could post feature requests and bugs and where we could follup up on the progress on those. But the DNP team doesn't seem to be interested in that.

    Re: Roadmap

Look what I found in my mailbox, it's an e-mail from DotNetPanel 2008-dec-23.

Thank you for being a part of the DotNetPanel family in 2008. It has been an exciting year for us here at DotNetPanel as we have launched a first-ever product developed exclusively for Hyper-V technology. Earlier this month we launched our new Hyper-V module with the 2.8.1 release of DotNetPanel, our fastest, most secure release to date.

In the coming year you can expect new offerings such as a new billing solution, enhanced features for Windows shared hosting, Microsoft SaaS offerings, and an increase in development for the virtualization market. Take a minute or two and check out what’s coming in 2009.

Our Dedication To You In 2009

The control panel industry witnessed several major acquisitions in 2008. This year marked an impressive year for acquisition of our competitors by major players in the industry. Companies like WebHost Automation, H-Sphere, Sphera, and ModernGigabyte’s ModernBill, were all acquired by industry giant Parallels.

While our competitors are getting acquired, DotNetPanel is committed and dedicated to staying with you to help you achieve your goals well into 2009 and beyond. Experience the difference in Windows hosting control panel software. Experience DotNetPanel.

New DotNetPanel Billing Solution In 2009

In 2009 we are releasing a new DotNetPanel Billing Solution, developed exclusively for DotNetPanel users. The new DotNetPanel Billing Solution is built with resellers in mind: easy to install and configure with an API for better extensibility and integration. Get all the features you need from a billing system, available as a stand-alone product that integrates with your existing DotNetPanel.

All existing holders of DNP Standard Edition, DNP Enterprise Edition, DNP Gold, DNP Monthly 2.0, DNP Modules Pack or DNP E-commerce module will receive the new DNP Billing Solution at no charge. Available in beta February 2009.

Virtualization And Your Business In 2009

Virtualization has been gaining popularity with prominent hosting companies. DotNetPanel is the only Hyper-V hosting control panel that provides your business with the advantage of creating, managing, and selling VPS solutions to your customers. And did you know virtualization saves the environment? You too can add your business to the list of “Green IT” companies by setting up your environment for virtualization.

Top Five Benefits to Server Virtualization:
    (Excerpted from http://www.itworld.com/nls_windowsserver050411).

    1

Lower number of physical servers - you can reduce hardware maintenance costs because of a lower number of physical servers.

    2

By implementing a server consolidation strategy, you can increase the space utilization efficiency in your data center.

    3

By having each application within its own "virtual server" you can prevent one application from impacting another application when upgrades or changes are made.

    4

You can develop a standard virtual server build that can be easily duplicated which will speed up server deployment.

    5

You can deploy multiple operating system technologies on a single hardware platform (i.e. Windows Server 2003, Linux, Windows 2000, etc).

Go green, increase revenue, and build your business with DotNetPanel’s Hyper-V module in 2009.
