    2008 or 2008 R2?

I was playing with my first DNP install on a 2008 R2 server, and while having issues getting SQL Express Studio Manager Express installed - I installed / removed several versions and essentially frelled up the server more than I trust.  I'm going to blow it up and start fresh.

So... 2008 or 2008 R2?  Seems like the instructions were written based on 2008, and R2 sql express isn't even officially released yet.

I'd rather be on R2, but the question is, is anyone else?

    Thanks,

     Matt

Go with R2. I am pretty sure both SQL and DNP works on R2.

    Thanks

I would ask for R2 support to DNP team. I remember I read somewhere that R2 has a problem with current version of DNP (2.8.11) and that R2 support will be fixed in upcoming .12 version.

Maybe I'm wrong so it's better to check with DNP team.

In general, I think Rubal is right: go for R2 if/when DNP supports it. R2 is a good evolution.

We have several R2 installations in place but none of them use DNP (yet) so I cannot tell for sure.

    Cheers.

I've been having trouble with R2 and DNP, I guess i could wait for the next release, but the sooner I get this box up and running, the sooner I can phase out the old server which is costing me a monthly fee in a datacenter right now.

Than again i'd rather build it once, and right...  When DNP posted 2008 R2 as a supported platform, I guess I believed them :)

Have no problem running DNP on R2. Mind you we only have it installed on new web servers, DB server is still 2008

And, by the way, .8.12 has been released yesterday. That should fix problems with W2008 R2.
