better documentation on way with version2.0?

    Hello,

I have become a user of DNP 3 days ago. I want to put in my experience with it, like Installing and getting it to work etc.

First thing I noticed is Lack of Step by Step documentation, There is documentation but it is not step by step in detail.

I have used other control panels before and they all have some kind of solid documentation. Documentation is not only for Newbies, but it is a reference to every administrator to make things easy when something goes wrong.

Though discussion forums are there to help and support is there to help, these still donot replace the perfect documentation. When I bought the DNP license my only intention is to get everything going as quickly as possible. That is install DNP, Install FTP, MAIL, STATS, create Resellers, Create Plans, Create Customer and host a test site in a customers account. To my surprise it seems very far to realize this idea of hosting a website with DNP, that is because I am stopped at most of the steps. It is lot of wait to get email and forum support. While DNP's olicy is to provide only Email and Forum support they should back it up with a perfect documentation I think, so that customers like me will not have to wait long, while waiting will be able to follow the documentation in most cases andget rid of their confusion/problems.

A nice getting started tutorial to get DNP work for customers from start to finish so that a real website be hosted on the server would be great. I understand there are some people who would like to spend money to get the server up and running with DNP, and there are always experienced people who would work for money.

But do-it-yourselfer's like me need documentation. As there is no necessity for me to seek professional help. I have basic understanding of how windows work and what should be done to get a website hosted. I can get a website hosted in 2 minutes without DNP, but why opted for DNP is to be more organized, professional, scalable etc. But as DNP is a new Control panel which I donot have familiarity with I do expect a guide not a RAW one but a SOLID one. I think a product like DNP should have perfect documentation to begin with.

Apart from this documentation thing, DNP is the BEST CONTROL PANEL for WINDOWS that is currently LIVE on THIS PLANET. It is a magic so small so dynamic so useful I am loving it, DNP workflow, Interface and everything is cool. I have been using it for 3 days now and I have used other major control panels before. I can backup my praise for DNP, contenders welcome :) ( Have used available DNP Demos )

Last but not Least enlighten me on documentation. When can I expect a perfect documentaton(not the one in the downloads section now ;) ) , can I with Version 2.0 , I know developers might say we are busy developing a world class panel and has no time to write perfect documentation, I think DNP company has to do something with it.

    Regards,

    Krish.

    Hi Krish,

I totally agree with you that there is a lack of decent documentation. Although you should be able to get most to work with the stuff that is available, not all features are described and documentation hasn't been updated together with the latests releases.

But if you have a look at the announcement they made on DNP 2.0, you see they are working on a live environment which will hold all documentation in the future. And as 2.0 should be released tomorrow, I suppose this is on the way as well.

    *** User Education

Starting from the next DNP release a brand-new online collaboration tool will be introduced to provide a single source of user education information. All manuals, how-to, FAQs, KB articles will live under the single hood; the entire set of information will be ordered and indexed and our customers (and customers of our customers) will be able to browse, search, collaborate and publish the content.

Meanwhile I suggest you have a search on the forum, most issues have been come across by someone and the solution is usually in the same thread. If not I suggest you ask your specific questions on the forum for now.

Where is the Bow smiley? Cool and Yes DNP Documentation now blows the sox even the shoes away.

I am simply overwhelmed to see the DNP version 2.0 and the help, It is very clear and I simply love this page here which give quick outline of what to do to get going in a snap.

I am feeling good now for deciding to try, just try DNP initially by buying the License when it was available for sale,  but now I have become a campaigner for DNP, I have also become a loyal user of DNP only because I have nothing to expect more and I am sure more and more will be on the way into the future.

I now shut my mouth and retract my plea for documentation, I am again sure that it is there now and will only improve in future.

I once again thank DNP and its creators.
