    Ecommerce improvements

We are going to improve our Ecommerce drastically in order to make the module usable and suitable for business of any size, profit and type. As you have noticed there are a lot of management features supported by our mainstream control panel product but as we’ve faced it  is also very important to have an ability bill and invoice all of the features supported in hundreds of different ways. Due to this at the moment we are refactoring our Ecommerce module core functionality in order to make it extensible in all possible directions. Also it would be very helpful for us to receive any thoughts or feedback from you guys what are the features/functionality you’d like to have.

     Immediately:

    1. Ensure that old clients not already in the current eCommerce module are imported.
    2. Current Ecommerce database be imported into the new billing system
    3. Proper process flow for manual and credit card transactions.
    4. Revamp of the invoicing/payment and associated email notifications.
    5. Ability upgrade/downgrade plans and addons
    6. Have the option of having billing at a certain day of the month/year. And prorata the first payment if necessary. If the prorata amount is too small add it to the following month.
    7. Add extra billable items such as support services and other ad hoc items not associated with hosting or addons.
    8. Billing emails containing link to the actual invoice. This will make it easier to navigate and pay the bill.
    9. Support monthly and yearly billing cycles.
    10. Support PlanetDomains.com.au domain registrar.
    11. Support for commissions to sales people. For example, a host company may have a sales force which is paid by commission (either flat rate or %). Each client is associated with a sales person. At the end of every month we can generate a report of all sales and commission to each sales person. It's sort of like an affiliate code.
    12. Support for those affiliate systems. Can't think of one at the moment.

Thats all for now. I did write plenty before. I just need to go through my forum posts again.

I think there was also talk and requests to allow for the manual billing of customers.  As I understand it, customers who were imported or created manually in DNP aren't able to be invoiced.  This topic was brought up in June of 2007 in the post located here: http://forum.dotnetpanel.com/forums/p/2461/13677.aspx#13677

     This should probably  be addressed.

    1. I think the most important thing for non US DNP users are possibility to add new payment providers.
    2. Promo codes and trial periods when users can resign
    3. http://forum.dotnetpanel.com/forums/t/3813.aspx
    4. Option for administrator/reseller to change hosting time period (for example user buyed 12months hosting but he helped to solve some problem and now I want to give him one month for free)

There are alot of good ideas here.

I would like to add that support for MaxMind fraud protection would be great! More info can be found at www.maxmind.com/app/ccv

There was a discussion of it here http://forum.dotnetpanel.com/forums/t/3074.aspx

    Thanks

    Re: Ecommerce improvements

Number one for me is the ability to add in existing customers to the payment system. This has forced us to go to manual billing. It never occurred to me when I made the choice to move to DNP that this wouldn't be supported.

Outside of that - the general flow of the customer experience in relation to e-commerce could stand to be more intuitive. It's not instinctive for our new clients.

Despite my critical opening statement - I really do love DNP and see it as a significant improvement over Plesk/Helm for the Windows environment. My clients also love the look and feel of the user interface. The e-commerce portion is the weak spot and I'm very pleased to hear it getting some attention.

    Re: Ecommerce improvements

Please take a look at this thread: http://forum.dotnetpanel.com/forums/t/3772.aspx

There some design issues that need to be addressed in the E-Commerce system. I will be more than happy to work with the DNP team and help implement an effective system. Hopefully it is not too late.

Please let me know if clarification is needed on anything mentioned in the thread above.

    Thanks.

    Re: Ecommerce improvements

I think now the most important question is:

    When?

There was promise for releasing tutorial how to add new payment system to DNP but now when You are rewriting ecommerce module this tutorial probably has to wait for final release?

    Hi

Most of my customers manage there own account (ftp, sql, ...) but i am always called if there needs to be extra options or a new account.

I want to be able to create it for them without asking there password.

If you can't wait for DNP to release the next ecommerce module, you can purchase WHMCS which can do support as well.

    Re: Ecommerce improvements

I'm interested only in adding new payment provider (WHMCS is not supporting my local providers) to DNP and there was promise for releasing tutorial how to to this:

    http://forum.dotnetpanel.com/forums/p/1141/19055.aspx#19055

Probably DNP didnt released this tutorial because more or less things will be changed in new ecommerce module so it would be nice to know some ETA for new ecommerce version.

    Re: Ecommerce improvements

Maybe custom registration fields would be nice. For example additional instant messangers or "where do You found us".
