    Help with Backups

The DNP backup process is not very well explained in the documentation. There seems to be a backup button on most pages so it is a little hard to work out what each one does.

We want an automated process to backup our configuration should the server hard drive fail and we need to rebuild.

Which backup(s) should I run to backup all of the server configuration, customer spaces configuration, mail configuration, DNS, database configuration, etc so that this can all be recreated easily if the server hard drive were to fail? (The customer websites and databases we plan to backup separately so we are mainly interested in backing up the configuration only.)

How can this backup process be automated?

What is the restoration process to recreate the configuration if we were to have to rebuild?

    Thank you.

     hi

i personally would recommend using a script to backup your SQL Database.  Also personally i use R1Soft.com backup software on ALL of our servers, it does image backups, so it would be a hell of allot easier in disaster recovery to just restore ie the whole c:\dotnetpanel\  and restore the database MDB files.  the backup tools that come with DNP i dont think do exactly what is required for disaster recovery.
