I suggest you don't upgrade. DNP is good at Windows 2003 but totally dumb for Windows 2008. I lost a lot of features when I upgraded to windows 2008. I even got hacked because the security model of IIS7 is so different that DNP way of doing it is outdated. I wish I could go back to windows 2003 but unfortunately, moving 200 domains is a lot of work. I just hope that DNP gets smarter soon for Windows 2008.

    Mark,

What features have you lost after upgrading to Windows 2008 and what can we do to improve IIS 7 support?

FPSE are supported. All the rest is truth - will be added in the nearest releases.

What would you suggest for secured folders? I guess IISpassword is not the best candidate here as it's not free anymore and it doesn't work on IIS 7.

    Re: Moving to W2K8.

How about using internal IIS Mechanism? Same for IIS 6.0 module would be great as well..

    Thanks

IISPassword is based on .htaccess files and this was good for those ones migrating from Apache, but if we want to use IIS we should use Windows accounts, no?

Correct ... I'll try to find if we can implement something else within it.

    Thanks

    Re: Moving to W2K8.

And how about CF? I understand that it may be extra work.. But we can currently skip the CF DSN / CF Admin part and can atleast support its mappings .. ? Anyone who needs DSN/Sandbox can manage it manually but I think we need to make some progress with CF.

Yes, CF too. I'm just trying to undestand the demand in CF among customers.

Perl just set it up as a global for now, same thing for Python. FPE is the devils software, well doesn't work for me all my web servers are in farms.

Secured Folders now this is annoying, something should really be done need to fine some solution.

Does iispassword even work on IIS7? Does iis_rewrite support .htaccess? anything out there?

After looking did find  http://www.trilead.com/Products/Trilead_ISAPI_Filter_for_IIS/ and its free works on x64 and x86 IIS6 & 7

Also are you guys going to support iis7 rewrite module?

Oh or how about support for Forms Authentication built into DNP, isn't that what you guys did to secure awstats?

    Re: Moving to W2K8.

Rubal just setup a Windows 2008 server + DNP + SmarterMail for me, and everything seems to work fine. So, I'm also curious to find out what doesn't work? I'm not at all concerned about PERL / Python / PHP / etc, since we have Linux servers for that purpose.
