1. Currently, if you assign a dedicated ip to a website, it will not change the microsoft dns record automatically. Hope This will be modified in the future.
2. Currently, if you add a domain alias, it will not add domain binding to the website under IIS. I have to manually add this on the server.If you assign a dedicated ip to that website, it shall directly point to that alias website. However, most of time, it is not like that. This will cause problem while using shared ip.
