 Hello,

 I'm trying to get the different software installed on our remote servers included into DNP.

I'm getting always the message "The expected version of the software is not found on your server.". It looks like, that the software can not be discovered.

I tried this with SmarterMail, SimpleDNS and GeneFTP on all remote servers.

How does DNP discover the installed software?

 Are you sure that SM, SimpleDNS and Gene6FTP is installed properly on the remote server?

The problem is allready solved. We are using a software management system to deliver, install and configure applications on a server. In this case the UnInstall information will not be published for the Software add/remove applet, which was the problem.

DNP needs two registry keys to discover the installed software:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\UnInstall\<YourSoftware>

Key DisplayVersion and DisplayName

I had simply to add those keys and their values per software i like to use with DNP.

Hi, do you think you could give clear examples of the registry keys/values that you used to get around this problem? A few of us are having this issue since updating to WebSitePanel. Specifically I am having the issue trying to install the FTP service and SmarterMail also. I've tried adding the following registry keys without any luck. I'm running W2008 Server 2008 x64 SP2

HKLM
  \SOFTWARE
    \Microsoft
      \Windows
        \Uninstall (had to create this)
         \Microsoft FTP Server
          \DisplayVersion
             - (Default)  REG_SZ "7.0"
          \DisplayName
             - (Default)  REG_SZ "Microsoft FTP Server 7.0"

If you installed SmarterMail and Microsoft FTP Server 7.0 as usually, the UnInstall information will be written into the registry by the installer of the application. So, if you see the UnInstall information about the mentioned software in the "Add/Remove Software" Applet in the control panel, everything will be fine and DNP will be able to detect the software.

I think, that in your case something different is preventing DNP to detect the installed applications. So far i remember, a different thread in the forums is dealing DNP with the x64 platform. Maybe a search might help.
